If you are outside the UAE, the approved entry route is used to enter for employment processing. If you are already inside the UAE, an in-country status change may be completed where your case is eligible, without a border run.
After entry or status adjustment, applicants who require a residence permit complete the official medical-fitness screening. It typically includes blood screening and a chest X-ray; timing varies by centre and service package.
The Emirates ID application is linked to the residence process. New biometric enrolment, including fingerprints and identity verification, is completed at an ICP centre when required; existing records may be reused in eligible cases.
The official employment contract and remaining employer-side requirements are completed. The relevant immigration authority then reviews and, if approved, issues the residence record digitally.
After the Emirates ID is issued, the electronic version can be viewed through the ICP UAE app and used through UAE Pass. The physical card is then made available through the applicable Emirates Post delivery or collection method.
