UAEZY research note

UAEZY’s field experience shows that new residents often assume salary history creates an automatic right to credit. In reality, each bank applies its own policy, compliance checks and risk assessment.

Account opening and credit approval are different decisions
Banks may request passport, Emirates ID, residence, salary and address evidence
Three salary credits can help show history but do not guarantee a card
Loans commonly require salary evidence and bank statements
Read the Key Facts Statement and schedule of charges before signing

Opening a resident bank account

Common documents include a passport, Emirates ID, residence details, UAE mobile number and information about employment, income, address and source of funds. The exact list depends on the bank, account and customer profile. Additional compliance documents may be requested.

Current account, savings account and salary account

A current account is commonly used for salary and daily payments and may support a cheque book subject to bank policy. A savings account may have different transaction, interest and balance conditions. A “salary account” is a banking arrangement, not a government status.

Beneficiary activation and transfer waiting periods

Some banks apply a security waiting period after adding a new beneficiary, while others offer instant or faster routes. The timing is set by the bank’s security controls and can change. Aani can allow participating institutions to send instant payments using mobile, email or QR details.

Credit cards after salary payments

Some customers become eligible after building salary history, but three salary credits are not a universal rule or an approval guarantee. Banks consider salary, employer, employment length, liabilities, credit history and product-specific minimum income.

Important
  • Emirates ID and passport
  • Salary certificate or transfer evidence
  • Recent bank statements
  • Existing liability information

Personal loans for expats

Loan applications commonly ask for identity documents, salary certificate or salary-transfer letter, recent bank statements and details of existing liabilities. The bank decides affordability and pricing under its policy and CBUAE rules.

Cheque books

Cheque books are usually linked to eligible current accounts and remain subject to the bank’s decision. Never sign a blank cheque. Record cheque numbers, beneficiaries, dates and amounts and keep enough funds for due dates.

Fees, minimum balances and product comparison

Do not compare only the headline benefit. Check monthly account fee, minimum-balance charge, transfer fees, card annual fee, cash-advance cost, late-payment charge and foreign-exchange markup in the bank’s Key Facts Statement and schedule of charges.

BNPL and small-credit apps

Buy-now-pay-later and small-credit products are borrowing commitments, not free money. Eligibility, limit, fees and reporting can change. UAEZY may explain product categories but does not recommend or arrange a particular loan.

FAQ

Will a bank approve a credit card after three salaries?

Not automatically. Salary history may help, but every bank applies its own eligibility and credit decision.

Can UAEZY guarantee a bank account?

No. UAEZY can prepare and check documents; the bank performs compliance checks and makes the final decision.

Why can’t I send money immediately to a new IBAN?

The bank may apply a beneficiary-activation security period. Check the bank’s current app message or support channel.
